Beyond the Eiffel Tower selfies and croissant-induced food comas lies a Paris that's waiting to blow your Instagram feed's mind.

Arguably the most famous art museum in the world and an architectural marvel, the Louvre Museum houses astonishing treasures of the art world. It’s most famous occupant is Leonardo da Vinvi’s The Mona Lisa. But don’t miss other fabulous artworks, including Alexandros of Antioch’s Venus de Milo and the ancient Greek statue The Winged Victory.
Enjoy sweeping views of Paris from the top of Montmartre, a hill in the city’s 18th arrondissement. The historic neighborhood surrounding the hill, also called Montmartre, is known for its nightlife and its artistic history—Monet, Renoir, Picasso and van Gogh all lived there. Don’t miss the stunning, white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur.
A spectacular architectural marvel, the Eiffel Tower is worth a visit. You’ll want to get the obligatory 683 selfies in front of it, of course. If time allows, check it out during the day and then again at nighttime for a whole different perspective.
Even if opera’s not your thing, a visit to the most famous opera house in the world is worth the time. Its over-the-top opulence is of the Napolean III style, and combines elements from Baroque, Palladio and Renaissance architecture.
The Place de la Concorde is the largest public square in Paris. It was the site of many notable public executions, including those of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Today the square holds an obelisk from Egypt, two glorious fountains, and numerous statues. Adjacent to the square are gardens and museums.
Located just outside the city of Paris, Versailles is the extravagant former residence of Louis XIV and the eventual seat of French government during his reign. Today, visitors can tour the many grand aspects of Versailles, reveling in the grandeur. During the 2024 Olympic Games, equestrian and modern pentathlon events will take place at The Palace of Versailles Park.
France, of course, is renowned for its incredible food. Skip the overpriced food at the Olympic venues and seek out charming cafés and bistros on Parisian side streets. With well over a hundred Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, serving everything from French to Japanese to Scandinavian cuisine, every palate will find something that delights. Maybe it’s just a loaf of crusty bread and some soft cheese!
